Alexis Sanchez calls on Manchester United to sign "big players"

Alexis Sanchez hopes for some further transfer business before this evening's deadline, acknowledging that Manchester United need more quality to challenge for honours.

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has urged the club to sign "big players" if they are to challenge for silverware this season.

The Red Devils have splashed out £75.5m on new recruits since the end of the previous campaign, which saw them finish trophiless.

Jose Mourinho has ultimately been left frustrated after missing out on a number of other targets, however, with the Portuguese desperate to add two more new faces before this evening's 5pm deadline.

Sanchez, who joined United from Arsenal in the January window, hopes that his side can bring in a player of Arturo Vidal's quality in the closing hours of the summer market.

"At United we have to sign big players, with experience. Barcelona just signed Arturo Vidal, who is a great player and my teammate from Chile," he is quoted as saying by The Sun.

"He is an example of the type of players we need in order to win trophies and compete at the highest level."

Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa is the latest player to have been linked with a deadline-day move to Old Trafford.
