Luke Shaw: 'Teams fear trip to Old Trafford'

Luke Shaw claims that teams fear taking on Manchester United at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal.

Luke Shaw has claimed that teams are beginning to fear the prospect of playing Manchester United at Old Trafford again.

United struggled to produce their best at home under David Moyes last season, but Louis van Gaal has won 10 of his 13 home Premier League fixtures since last summer, and Shaw believes that sides are still intimidated by the atmosphere.

"We always get that extra push at home from the fans and they've also been amazing away from home as well," the England international told the Manchester Evening News.

"At home it's always different - when teams come to Old Trafford they can feel that atmosphere and it can be a scary place for other teams.

"It's a big pitch and United have always been strong at home and won a lot of games here so that's a very important factor as well."

United host Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.
