David Silva says that Manchester City are ready to become Premier League champions.

Spanish midfielder David Silva has claimed that Manchester City are ready become Premier League champions.

Silva's corner was headed in by Vincent Kompany to give them a 1-0 win over Manchester United on Monday, which sent City back to the top of the table on goal difference.

The playmaker still has the utmost respect for United but insists that City have no reason to fear their Manchester rivals.

"We don't need to think about United," said Silva. "We've passed that mental stage now.

"We are ready to win the title. We don't concentrate on United. We concentrate on ourselves. We beat them there, we beat them here.

"Don't get me wrong, United are a great team, a fantastic team. They've been winning titles for a long time but, as I say, we beat them there, we beat them here."

United host Swansea City and travel to Sunderland in their remaining two fixtures while City go to Newcastle United and entertain Queens Park Rangers.
