Chris Smalling has claimed that Manchester United's 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Wednesday was the perfect antidote to the shock defeat by West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
The Red Devils fell to a 1-0 loss against the Premier League's basement side last Sunday to confirm bitter rivals Manchester City as champions of England.
However, Jose Mourinho's charges put in a much-improved performance at the Vitality Stadium to claim a morale-boosting win ahead of Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.
"We all knew that against West Brom it wasn't good enough and tonight we put a performance on," Smalling, who opened the scoring against the Cherries, told BT Sport.
"Quite often when I get my goals they come together, it's nice to score.
"[The FA Cup] has been our goal now for a while to reach that final and this was the perfect performance to run up to that."
Should Man United defeat Spurs, they will face either Chelsea or Southampton in the final on May 19.
