Erik ten Hag privately admits that he does not know whether he will stay as head coach of Manchester United this summer, according to a report.

Erik ten Hag has reportedly privately admitted that he does not know whether he will stay as head coach of Manchester United beyond the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

The Dutchman's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with the club's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team believed to be considering making a managerial change.

Ten Hag has led the Red Devils to another FA Cup final, with the Dutchman bidding to make it back-to-back trophies in his first two seasons at the club.

However, the team were eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League, while they are currently down in sixth position in the Premier League table.

Man United will not play Champions League football next term, and it is believed that the team's ongoing problems in the league could lead to Ten Hag being replaced at the helm.

Erik ten Hag 'unsure whether he will remain at Old Trafford'

According to HITC, Ten Hag has privately admitted that he does not know whether he will remain in charge of the club beyond the end of the campaign.

The former Ajax manager has not been publicly backed by Ratcliffe, although it is thought that the new part-owners are currently planning for him to stay heading into next season.

England head coach Gareth Southgate and ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter are seen as the favourites to replace Ten Hag, should a change be made this summer.

Thomas Tuchel is also being linked with the position, as he will be standing down as Bayern Munich manager at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

What do Man United have left to come this season?

Man United will face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25, and it would certainly be a positive end to a disappointing campaign if they were able to lift the trophy.

Winning the FA Cup would not guarantee that Ten Hag stays, but the Dutchman could point to the fact that he has won trophies in his two seasons at the club.

The Red Devils also have another four Premier League matches this season, starting with a trip to Crystal Palace on May 6, before back-to-back home games against Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Man United will then end their Premier League campaign away to Brighton & Hove Albion on May 19.

The 20-time English champions are sixth in the division, six points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have a game in hand, while Man United can no longer catch Aston Villa in fourth.
