Top 10 Premier League saves

In the wake of David de Gea's save at Sunderland, Sports Mole picks out 10 of the best stops made by goalkeepers in the Premier League era.

While Adnan Januzaj stole the headlines during Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday evening, it could have been a much different outcome but for David de Gea.

With Sunderland leading 1-0 in the first half, United's Spanish goalkeeper threw himself to his right to turn Emanuele Giaccherini's header around the post.

After the match manager David Moyes conceded that De Gea had kept his side in the contest, while former United keeper Peter Schmeichel described the stop as one of the best that he has ever seen in the Premier League.

But where do De Gea's heroics rank among other saves? Here, Sports Mole has picked out 10 more that we believe run it close.

Tomasz Kuszczak - Wigan Athletic vs. West Bromwich Albion, 2006

Peter Schmeichel - Liverpool vs. Manchester United, 1993

Edwin van der Sar - Fulham vs. Man United, 2010

Carlo Cudicini - Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea, 2008

Peter Schmeichel - Everton vs. Man United, 1997

Tomasz Kuszczak - Birmingham City vs. Manchester United, 2007

David de Gea - Chelsea vs. Man United, 2012
