Manchester United have reportedly identified Andrea Berta as a possible appointment as the club's new sporting director.
The exit of Jose Mourinho has led to United beginning to consider widespread changes behind the scenes at Old Trafford, and that could include the introduction of a director of football.
RB Leipzig's Paul Mitchell has already been linked with the position, but according to The Mirror, United have shown an interest in Berta.
The 47-year-old is currently one of the key personnel behind the scenes at Atletico Madrid, and the Italian has been heavily praised for the club's recent challenge to Barcelona and Real Madrid.
However, United's admiration of Berta is allegedly likely to lead to Atletico offering improved terms in a bid to keep him at the Wanda Metropolitano.
