Victor Valdes: 'Reserve football a necessity'

Playing for Manchester United's Under-21s "is good for your game rhythm", according to goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Victor Valdes has insisted that he has no issues about playing for Manchester United's development side.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer in January, but with David de Gea in positive form, he is yet to be picked by manager Louis van Gaal.

Instead, the Spaniard has featured for the club's Under-21s, which he has revealed "is good for your game rhythm".

"This is the way now. When you don't play in the first team here in England, it's usually better to play in the reserves," he told the club's official website.

"It's not something we do in Spain, but you must accept it and focus on your performance because it is good for your game rhythm."

Valdes's deal with the Red Devils is due to expire next summer.
