Victor Valdes appears to have directed a cryptic message at Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal by claiming that he will "fight to be free".
The Spaniard had a reported bust-up with his Dutch manager, resulting in the goalkeeper being shunned from the first team.
It is believed that Valdes, who joined United on a free contract in the summer, a year after leaving Barcelona, has been trying to orchestrate a transfer, but so far, no deal has been struck.
On Twitter, Valdes posted a picture of his hand holding a message, which read: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
Alongside the photo, the 33-year-old tweeted: "To not let down those that want to see me play again is my motivation. I fight to be free and to enjoy my profession."
No defraudar a los que desean volver a verme jugar, mi motivación.
