Louis van Gaal to keep stern approach at Manchester United

Louis van Gaal suggests that he will maintain his strict approach when he takes over as Manchester United manager.

New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has suggested that he will maintain his stern approach when he takes on the job at Old Trafford after the World Cup.

While the Dutchman has insisted that having a good relationship with his team is important, the 62-year-old has admitted that he will show players the door should they fail to adapt to his way.

"I am a coach who wants a good relationship with my players, I think it is very important," ESPN quotes Van Gaal as saying.

"I do everything to reach that level, but sometimes it is not reachable as the players are not open-minded and don't adapt to the norms that I put in the team. When you are not listening, always out, or I go out."

Van Gaal has replaced David Moyes after the Scotsman was sacked in April less than 10 months after being named Sir Alex Ferguson's successor.
