Walter Mazzarri: 'I would pick Roberto Pereyra over Paul Pogba in midfield'

Watford manager Walter Mazzarri suggests that he would pick Hornets midfielder Roberto Pereyra in his side over Manchester United's world-record signing Paul Pogba.

Watford coach Walter Mazzarri has hinted that he would rather have Hornets midfielder Roberto Pereyra in his side than world-record signing Paul Pogba.

The Hertfordshire club face Manchester United at Vicarage Road on Sunday, where Pogba and Pereyra will be reunited having both played together at Juventus last season.

"As a principle I fall in love with my players," said Mazzarri, according to Goal.com.

"They are very important. Pereyra is a great player, he runs from side to side, has great qualities and was the player I wanted. If I had to choose, I'd pick Pereyra.

"But Pogba is a champion. He is a very young player and this may have an influence on him adapting a little slower after changing team. Everything is new for him at the moment but with one play he can change the result."

Pogba joined United during the summer window for an initial fee thought to be worth around £89m.
