Crystal Palace midfielder Jonathan Williams admits that he is "sad" to see Wilfried Zaha join Manchester United.

The duo came through the ranks at the Eagles together and helped their team win promotion to the Premier League when they beat Watford in the Championship playoff final.

"Wilf has been incredible this year," Williams told Sky Sports News. "It is sad to see him go, because I played with him when we were younger.

"But he has deserved everything he has got, so I wish him all the best. I have never seen a player like him, to be honest.

"It was a very special moment to be promoted with another Academy graduate on that day. I said to [Zaha], 'this is what it is for'. We just could not believe what had happened."

The 19-year-old made 35 appearances for Ian Holloway's side last season.
