Manchester United's Ashley Young pleased with 'important win'

Manchester United midfielder Ashley Young reveals his delight after his team ended their eight-game winless run with a 2-1 victory over Swansea City at Old Trafford.

Manchester United midfielder Ashley Young has revealed his delight after his team finally returned to winning ways against Swansea City in the Premier League.

Entering Saturday's fixture with the Swans, Man United had not won in their last eight games in all competitions.

Goals from Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney helped Louis van Gaal's side record a 2-1 victory over their Welsh opponents, however, and Young has said that "it was nice to get back to winning ways".

"Of course, we enjoyed it. It was nice to get back to winning ways. It was important to get the three points. I was playing further up than I have in the last few weeks. It was nice to get an assist," Young told reporters.

"All around the pitch, we had a lot of joy. We created chances. I felt comfortable down the right. I just wanted to keep attacking the full-back. It was a great finish by Wayne Rooney. It was a striker's instinct to get there and put it away.

"It was important to get the win, however we did it. It was nice to get the two goals. I think today we showed the way we want to attack teams. A lot of teams come here to defend. We want to be on the front foot and play the way we want to."

Man United will begin their FA Cup journey for the 2015-16 season at home to Sheffield United next weekend.
