Ex-Manchester United man Paul McGrath feels the show of solidarity from Liverpool's players towards Luis Suarez gives off the wrong impression.

Former Manchester United defender Paul McGrath has criticised the decision of Liverpool's players to wear t-shirts supporting Luis Suarez in the warm-up for their Premier League game at Wigan last night.

The move by the Reds has divided the football community, with many individuals suggesting that because Suarez has been found guilty of racism the show of solidarity from his teammates indicates they support his views.

McGrath, who spent seven years at both United and Aston Villa, felt that anti-racism t-shirts would have been more appropriate.

"As an ex-footballer having experienced racist comments throughout my career I was saddened to see Liverpool players wear those t-shirts last night," the 52-year-old wrote on Twitter.

"I would have been much happier if they had worn anti-racist t-shirts."

Liverpool went on to record a 0-0 draw at the DW.
