Penalties from Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov was enough for Manchester United to claim all three points against Stoke City tonight.
Stoke created the better of the goalscoring chances during the early exchanges, but neither Jonathan Walters nor Peter Crouch were able to work young goalkeeper Ben Amos.
The deadlock was broken courtesy of Mexican striker Hernandez. Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant brought down Park Ji-Sung inside the area and Hernandez stepped up to dispatch the resultant spot kick.
United's lead was doubled eight minutes after the restart thanks to Berbatov, who took over the penalty duties from Hernandez following Walters's foul on Antonio Valencia.
Young United substitute Paul Pogba had United's best chance to score a third, but his goalbound effort was deflected wide by Thomas Sorensen.
