Manchester United Under-18s have been crowned FA Youth Cup winners for the 11th time in their history courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest Under-18s at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Over 67,000 spectators watched the contest in Manchester, which proved to be the biggest crowd in the competition's 70-year history.

First-team players Bruno Fernandes, David de Gea and Harry Maguire were among those in attendance, in addition to legendary head coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rhys Bennett sent Man United ahead in the 13th minute with a powerful header, but Forest were level in the latter stages of the first period when Joshua Powell squeezed one past Radek Vitek.

Alejandro Garnacho, who made his first-team debut against Chelsea in the Premier League at the end of April, secured the victory for the Red Devils with two late goals, though, first converting from the penalty spot in the 78th minute before finishing past Aaron Bott in second-half stoppage time.

Garnacho will now be hoping to keep his spot in the first-team squad for the final match of the Premier League season away to Crystal Palace next weekend.

The success is Man United's first in the competition since 2011, when the likes of Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba were involved for the Under-18s.
