Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals that he learnt much from working under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has paid tribute to retiring Sir Alex Ferguson by insisting that he has "learnt from the best".

Ferguson confirmed earlier today that this season would be his last in charge of Manchester United following 27 years at the helm.

Solskjaer played under Ferguson for 11 campaigns and having since gone on to manage Norwegian club Molde to two successive league titles, the 40-year-old has conceded that he is indebted to his mentor.

"Those years were the best of my career. I have learnt from the best," he told MUTV. "He really showed how he appreciated you and you didn't doubt that he trusted you.

"I will never forget the loyalty he showed me. Everything I have learnt I have learnt from the boss."

Everton manager David Moyes is the favourite to replace Ferguson at Old Trafford.
