Team News: Wayne Rooney absent for Manchester United

Javier Hernandez starts for Manchester United for the injured Wayne Rooney against Norwich City.

Wayne Rooney has not made David Moyes's Manchester United squad for the trip to Norwich City in the Premier League, with the player missing the game with a groin strain.

In Rooney's absence and with Robin van Persie still injured, Javier Hernandez is selected as the lone striker, with Shinji Kagawa playing just behind.

For Norwich, Michael Turner is missing through suspension, with Ryan Bennett taking his place. Further forward, Wes Hoolahan plays off Gary Hooper, with Johan Elmander on the bench.

Norwich: Ruddy; Martin, Bennett, Bassong, Olsson; Fer, Johnson, Snodgrass, Hoolahan, Redmond; Hooper

United: De Gea; Smalling, Vidic, Evans, Evra; Young, Cleverley, Carrick, Giggs, Kagawa; Hernandez
