Carlo Ancelotti is allegedly keen for Real Madrid officials to try to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.

Earlier this year, it was suggested that Los Blancos would not be in the market for a new striker, at least one that would cost big money.

However, there is potential for the situation to quickly change, a result of Karim Benzema being heavily linked with a transfer to a Saudi Arabian club.

With Marco Asensio also said to be on the brink of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, Ancelotti's attack would be significantly weakened if both players go through the exit door.

Over the past 48 hours, reports in Spain have suggested that Real are contemplating whether to make an approach for Chelsea's Kai Havertz, who may not be part of the club's future under Mauricio Pochettino.

Although the Germany international has spent much of his Blues career playing down the middle of the attack, Ancelotti allegedly likes his versatility over seeing the 23-year-old as a direct alternative to Benzema.

According to The Athletic, Ancelotti has brought up the subject of attempting to strike a deal for Kane.

Ancelotti, who is seemingly likely to remain in charge over taking the Brazil job, is said to have asked club officials on Thursday if they can facilitate the addition of Spurs' all-time top goalscorer.

The 29-year-old has just a year left on his contract and is currently contemplating his options with a decision either needing to be made now or next summer.

Throughout this week, it has been reported that chairman Daniel Levy does not want to sell to a Premier League rival and that Kane is against moving abroad, instead eyeing more Premier League records.

That creates the possibility of an impasse, particularly when Manchester United are allegedly his preferred destination, but that was before it became apparent that Benzema may end his long-term association with Real.

Levy could consider selling to Real if Spurs receive an offer in the region of £80m, the current alternative being keeping Kane for another year in the hope that he can fire the club back into the Champions League under a new head coach.

As it stands, it is unclear when any developments with occur with Kane's future, the player due to link up with England over the coming days ahead of their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
