Aston Villa are reportedly in pole position to sign Joao Felix from La Liga club Atletico Madrid.
The forward has scored 33 goals and provided 18 assists in 129 appearances for Atletico, but he has struggled for regular game time this season.
Felix has only started nine of his 18 matches for the Spanish club this term following reports that his relationship with Atletico boss Diego Simeone had broken down.
Atletico CEO Gil Marin has recently hinted that Felix could leave the Wanda Metropolitano amid interest from the likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, while Aston Villa have emerged as surprise contenders.
According to The Sun, the Villans are currently leading the race to sign the 23-year-old, who has four years remaining on his contract.
The report claims that Marin is already discussing a potential deal with the Midlands club, although Felix has stated that he is currently focused on the 2022 World Cup, where he is representing Portugal.
Felix has scored one goal and registered two assists in his three appearances at the tournament, and he is currently preparing for Saturday's quarter-final showdown with Morocco.
