Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is urging new Manchester United boss David Moyes not to make a bid for Gareth Bale this summer.

Andre Villas-Boas has warned David Moyes off a move for Gareth Bale in the summer.

The Everton manager was named as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Manchester United earlier this week, while Bale is being linked to a switch to Old Trafford ahead of next season.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager told reporters: "Obviously David will set up new targets. I'm pretty sure that whatever David does in the market will be excellent. But to get a player of Gareth's dimension is firstly not in our interests but also very difficult.

"[Bale] is very driven to be successful but you can see that he is enjoying his football and all of the indications I have are that he will continue. It would be good for him [to sign a new deal], and I think he deserves it for the season he's had."

Bale was recently named PFA Player and Young Player of the year.
