Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that his club had a meeting with Dayot Upamecano's agents on Friday as the speculation surrounding the centre-back continues.
A €42m (£37.3m) release clause in Upamecano's RB Leipzig contract can be activated during this summer's transfer window, and a number of clubs are said to be interested in signing him.
Manchester United and Liverpool are thought to be firmly in the race, but a recent report claimed that Bayern were at the head of the queue for the France international.
Salihamidzic has now revealed that the European champions are keen to bring Upamecano to the Allianz Arena and met with the centre-back's agents on Friday to discuss a potential move.
"Of course we are thinking about him," Salihamidzic told Sky Deutschland. "We had a good meeting with his agents yesterday. Let's see what happens."
Upamecano, who is also believed to be wanted by new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, has made 24 appearances for Leipzig during the current season.
