Former West Bromwich Albion defender Daryl Burgess has warned the club not to sign Manchester United's Jonny Evans this summer.
The Baggies are rumoured to be considering a £10m move for the Irishman, who made just 17 appearances for United last season.
From Burgess's point of view, Evans does not fit the bill at The Hawthorns and believes that West Brom should focus their attention elsewhere.
"For me, [Evans] is not up to Manchester United's standards," the Birmingham Mail quotes Burgess as saying. "If you look at their centre-backs from the past he doesn't stand out.
"He is a decent Premier League centre-back, but no more than that and if £10m is the asking price I'd think that could be better spent elsewhere.
"Far £10m you want somebody who is a little bit more commanding. Evans is a good player but I'm not sure if he is much better than what we've got."
Evans has been a United player for his entire career so far after coming through the youth ranks in 2006.
