Cesc Fabregas is reportedly spearheading Como's charge to sign a Manchester United defender during the summer transfer window.
While the Spaniard is currently on punditry duty for Euro 2024, the former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder has one eye on next season with Como.
For the first time in 21 years, I Lariani will be competing in Serie A after earning promotion from the second tier as runners-up.
Strengthening their squad ahead of 2024-25 us already underway with four players having loan deals converted into permanent moves.
Furthermore, Como have already pushed through the high-profile signing of Roma forward Andrea Belotti, a clear statement of intent ahead of trying to retain their newly-earned status.
However, it appears that Fabregas will now work to convince an ever bigger name to make the switch to Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Fabregas targeting Varane signing
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Man United defender Raphael Varane is the top target to add quality and experience to the defence.
Varane will only be a Red Devils player for a matter of days courtesy of his departure having already been confirmed upon the expiry of his contract.
The former France international is leaving Old Trafford having made 95 appearances across three seasons, including 32 during the last campaign.
As it stands, though, he is now deliberating over potential new challenges, with a move to other European clubs as well as teams in the Middle East on the table.

Do Como have any realistic chance of signing Varane?
A World Cup winner moving to Como may feel like a pipedream for all concerned, particularly given the money that Varane was on at Man United and, before that, Real Madrid.
Furthermore, Varane is known to have ambitions to return to former club Lens at some stage, and that may be factored in when making his decision.
Nevertheless, with Italy a league that he has not experienced before, Como will not feel out of the race, depending on Varane's motivation when he still only 31 years of age.
