Manchester United manager-elect Erik ten Hag has reportedly been given the seal of approval to move for River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a bright start to the 2022 season in his homeland and already has four goals and three assists to his name from 11 appearances in all competitions.
Fernandez's form has supposedly attracted interest from Man United, Real Madrid and Manchester City, with a recent report claiming that the latter side are now leading the race for the lynchpin.
Now, Argentinian outlet Ole claims that Ten Hag has received glowing reports on Fernandez from Man United scouts in Argentina and is ready to make the youngster one of his first signings at Old Trafford.
The current Ajax boss - who witnessed his side go down 2-1 to PSV Eindhoven in the final of the KNVB-Beker earlier on Sunday - is thought to be on the verge of agreeing a four-year deal to take over at Man United from the 2022-23 season onwards.
Fernandez's deal with River Plate does not expire until the summer of 2025, but he is understood to possess a £16m release clause in his contract.
