Everton have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling this summer.
The 28-year-old's contract at Old Trafford has just 15 months to run, and manager Jose Mourinho is rumoured to be on the lookout for a new central defender.
Smalling is not believed to be in line for a new deal at United, which means that his club could risk losing the former Fulham man for nothing in 2019.
Meanwhile, Sam Allardyce is also rumoured to be seeking a new central defender this summer, with Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka both in the twilight of their careers.
According to The Mirror, Everton are closely monitoring Smalling's situation at Old Trafford and sent scouts to watch the England defender in the FA Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Smalling cost United £10m when he joined from Fulham in 2010.
