Ferguson: 'Berbatov won't go for nothing'

Dimitar Berbatov will not leave Old Trafford on the cheap, according to Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speculation has surrounded the Bulgarian's future with United after the striker fell below Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in the forward pecking order.

"Nothing's settled on Berbatov. Someone's got to make an offer for him. He won't be going for nothing, that's for sure," said Ferguson.

"Berbatov will be here next year unless someone offers what we want for Berbatov so we have that experience.

"By doing what we do, the players who joined us a while back have given you that experience, they are replacing that as time goes on."

Berbatov joined United from Tottenham Hotspur for over £30m in 2008.
