Fiorentina reportedly inform Sofyan Amrabat that he must decide whether he wishes to stay or leave the club by Friday amid reported interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.

Fiorentina have reportedly told midfielder Sofyan Amrabat that he must decide whether he wishes to stay or leave the club by Friday, amid reported interest from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a departure from the Serie A club since starring as captain for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, playing a key role in their journey to the semi-finals.

Amrabat has made 107 appearances across all competitions for Fiorentina since joining the club in 2020, including 49 outings last season in which La Viola were losing finalists in both the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League.

However, Amrabat has now entered the final year of his contract with the Italian club and a move to a top European team in the prime years of his career has been mooted.

Fiorentina director Daniele Prade revealed last weekend that the Italian club are yet to receive an offer for Amrabat, but he has admitted that the midfielder is keen to join a "top club" this summer.

While Fiorentina accept that Amrabat wants to seek pastures new, Corriere dello Sport, via the Manchester Evening News, reports that La Viola have informed the midfielder that he has until Friday to decide if he will either stay of leave the club this summer.

The report adds that Fiorentina are beginning to lose their patience with Amrabat and they are keen to avoid losing the midfielder late in the window when they may be unlikely to recruit a replacement.

Amrabat was not involved in Fiorentina's opening Serie A game of the new season again Genoa last weekend as he continues to weigh up his options.

Premier League giants Man United and Liverpool have both been looking to bolster their options in the middle of the pitch throughout this summer and they are believed to be keen to recruit a defensive-minded midfielder before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Man United could soon step up their interest in Amrabat having sold Fred to Fenerbahce, while Donny van de Beek could also be moved on before the window closes amid links with Real Sociedad.

The Red Devils have already signed Mason Mount – who is ruled out until after the international break due to injury – Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund so far this summer, but manager Erik ten Hag said last week that his side are ready to "strike" in the transfer market if the right opportunity arrives.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, has overseen a significant midfield refresh this summer, with as many as seven midfielders departing and three arriving in the form of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo.

The Reds are understood to have held talks with representatives of Fiorentina over a potential summer move for Amrabat, but they are aware of competition from English rivals Man United.

Atletico Madrid and Juventus have also been credited with an interest in Amrabat, who is believed to be valued by Fiorentina in the region of £30m.
