Gordon Hill urges Manchester United to "take a chance" on Charlie Austin

Manchester United should "take a chance" on Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin, according to the club's former winger Gordon Hill.

Former Manchester United winger Gordon Hill has encouraged manager Louis van Gaal to "take a chance" on Charlie Austin when the transfer window opens for business next month.

The Red Devils have struggled to score goals on a regular basis this season, having found the net just two or more times in three of their last 12 games in all competitions.

Having seen Austin score a brace in the Championship for Queens Park Rangers during last night's 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, Hill insisted that the 26-year-old is worth a punt.

"Cannot understand why Charlie Austin is still playing in the Championship, same mold Vardy (sic). Take a chance United," the 61-year-old, who made over 100 appearances for the club during the 1970s, wrote on Twitter.

When asked about his future after his two-goal haul against Brighton, Austin vowed to remain at Loftus Road until the end of the season.
