Napoli enter the race to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood this summer, according to a report.

Napoli have reportedly entered the race to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood during this summer's transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for loan club Getafe during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in 34 appearances in all competitions.

Greenwood has netted eight times and registered six assists in 31 La Liga matches this term, while he also managed two goals in three appearances in the Copa del Rey.

Getafe would like to keep Greenwood for the 2024-25 season, but Man United are not believed to be willing to sanction another loan move, with the forward set to leave on a permanent basis.

Atletico Madrid are thought to lead the La Liga interest, while Juventus and Inter Milan have also been linked with the Red Devils academy product.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are also now in the picture, with the Italian giants keen to explore a move for the forward during the summer market.

Barcelona have also been linked with Greenwood, but a recent report claimed that the Catalan outfit have been priced out of a summer move.

The Red Devils are believed to be demanding €60m (£51.9m) for his signature, and Xavi's side will be unable to pay that amount in the upcoming market due to their off-the-field problems.

Man United's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently suggested that there could be a route for Greenwood back into the first team next season, but it is widely thought that the Englishman will be on the move during the summer market.

Greenwood 'is expected to leave Man United permanently'

In January 2022, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The forward was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the case was dropped in February 2023, allowing him to resume his career during the current season.

Man United are believed to have made the decision to bring him back into their first team last summer before changing their minds due to the reaction of the public.

Before his arrest, Greenwood was seen as one of the best young talents in world football and had been tipped to enjoy a long career at Old Trafford.

The forward has represented Man United on 129 occasions in all competitions, scoring 35 goals and registering 12 assists in the process.
