Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard is 'likely' to re-join West Ham United on a permanent basis this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard is supposedly 'likely' to re-join West Ham United on a permanent basis this summer.

The England international kickstarted a career revival with nine goals and five assists during a six-month loan spell at the London Stadium last summer, and David Moyes is understandably keen to welcome him back.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has affirmed that Lingard does have a "big part" to play at the club this season, but according to transfer insider Dean Jones, a return to West Ham is now "quite likely" to come to fruition.

Speaking on The Football Terrace, Jones said: "Lingard looks like he's giving up now on staying at United. West Ham are back on the tails of him, see if they can get him in. I think that is quite likely, from what I'm told, that that does end up happening.

"Lingard is starting to accept that there is no way in at United, and after what happened at West Ham last season for him, and the way they've started this season, it's a great fit for him."

The 28-year-old has now entered the final 12 months of his Old Trafford deal and came off the bench for the final four minutes of last weekend's draw with Southampton.
