Free agent Juan Mata has reportedly rejected offers to play in the MLS.
The Spaniard left Old Trafford this summer following the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to an eight-year association with Manchester United.
Despite being without a club, according to The Sun, the 34-year-old has turned down the opportunity to head to the MLS.
A number of MLS sides are believed to have offered Mata the chance to play in the United States, but the former Chelsea and Man United player is still keen to join a club in Europe.
Mata is prepared to be patient in his search for a new employer as he feels he still has the capabilities to compete in a top European league.
Mata played for Real Madrid Castilla, Valencia and Chelsea before joining United where he scored 51 goals and contributed 47 assists in 285 appearances.
