Lionel Messi's arrival at Paris Saint-Germain will see the French giants end their interest in Manchester United's Paul Pogba, according to a report.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly closing in on a deal for Lionel Messi, which will see the French giants drop their interest in Manchester United's Paul Pogba.

Barcelona announced on Thursday night that Messi would not be signing a new contract at Camp Nou, and PSG have quickly emerged as the leading candidates for the Argentina international.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have also been strongly linked with Pogba, who has less than one year left to run on his current deal with the 20-time English champions.

However, according to ESPN, Messi's arrival in Paris would see PSG drop their interest in Pogba, as the club would be unable to afford both deals in the current market.

The France international could now decide to run down his contract at Old Trafford before leaving the club on a free transfer next summer.

However, Man United are still thought to be confident of signing the World Cup winner to an extension, having boosted their squad with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane ahead of the new season.

The 28-year-old is currently training with his Red Devils teammates ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
