Real Madrid 'willing to be patient in Paul Pogba pursuit'

Real Madrid are reportedly hopeful that a patient approach to their pursuit of Paul Pogba will convince Manchester United to lower their £180m asking price.

Real Madrid are reportedly hopeful that a patient approach to their pursuit of Paul Pogba will convince Manchester United to lower their asking price for the midfielder.

United are holding out for an offer of £180m for the France international, which is a valuation that Madrid are neither willing nor able to meet having already spent £300m this summer.

Pogba has publicly stated his desire to leave Old Trafford during the current transfer window, while his agent Mino Raiola has confirmed that he is looking at options to get his client out of the club.

United were previously understood to have ruled out the possibility of selling Pogba at any price should Madrid not make their move before August 8, when the English transfer window closes.

However, AS claims that Madrid no longer believe that is a hard deadline for the deal to be done by and will continue their pursuit until the Spanish transfer window closes on September 2.

Los Blancos are only willing to go as high as £130m for the 26-year-old and have drawn up a list of replacements should they not be able to land their number one target.

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen is one of those targets, while Bruno Fernandes and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are also rumoured to be on their shortlist.
