Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay could reportedly stay with Manchester United this summer.

Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay could reportedly stay with Manchester United beyond the end of this summer's transfer window despite the speculation surrounding their futures.

Neither player will be first choice for the Red Devils in the new campaign, with Maguire down the pecking order in terms of the centre-back spots, while McTominay is behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount for the starting roles in midfield.

Man United are expected to sign another midfielder before the end of the transfer market, with Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat, Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni and Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka being linked with moves to the club.

There is currently widespread speculation surrounding the futures of both players, with Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United said to be showing an interest in Maguire.

McTominay, meanwhile, is also believed to be admired by West Ham, although it is believed that the Red Devils would want £40m for the Scotland international before considering a sale.

According to Football Insider, the duo will not be forced out of Man United this summer, but the club will listen to sensible offers that arrive.

There is not believed to be an active desire to sell the pair, although their departures would allow head coach Erik ten Hag to make more signings before the end of the transfer window.

Maguire was an unused substitute in Saturday's pre-season friendly against Lens, with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez playing the full 90 minutes of the contest in the middle of the defence.

McTominay, meanwhile, was absent for what proved to be a 3-1 victory for Ten Hag's side due to a minor injury, and it is unclear how long he could spend on the sidelines.

Florian Sotoca sent Lens ahead in Saturday's clash, but Marcus Rashford levelled the scores before Antony and Casemiro secured the victory for the 20-time English champions.

"For Rashy, of course, a typical Rashy goal I would say, how we come out of the back from a defender and then the finishing, a great assist from Antony, I'm very pleased with his performance, he's improving," Ten Hag told MUTV following the friendly.

"With Garna (Alejandro Garnacho) I think that second goal is a brilliant goal, the movement, the dribble from Garna, then inside the movement and the timing from Rashford, it opens up and it's a great pass from Garna and a first touch and finish [from Antony]."

Maguire is expected to be involved in Man United's final pre-season friendly of the summer against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday afternoon.

The England international only started eight Premier League games for the Red Devils last term, though, and he is highly unlikely to be in the XI that takes to the field for the first whistle against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the team's 2023-24 opener on August 14.
