Manchester City have reportedly emerged as the favourites to secure Erling Braut Haaland's signature this summer.
The Norway international is widely expected to leave Borussia Dortmund ahead of the 2022-23 season amid reports of a £63m release clause in his Westfalenstadion contract.
Man City are expected to be one of the sides battling for his services but could face competition from other European superpowers in Chelsea, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
However, the Manchester Evening News claims that Man City will now be at the head of the queue for Haaland's signature after Real Madrid pulled out of the running to sign the striker.
With Los Blancos already set to welcome Kylian Mbappe to the club from PSG on a free transfer, Man City could now have a clean run at Haaland after also winning the race for Julian Alvarez's signature.
Haaland has already struck 23 goals in 20 games for Dortmund in all tournaments this season and is not due to become a free agent until the summer of 2024.
