Manchester United-linked Jonathan David confirms that he will be leaving Lille on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.

Canada international Jonathan David has confirmed that he will be leaving Lille on a free transfer this summer, potentially sparking a Premier League scramble for his services.

The 25-year-old has again been in impressive form for Lille during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 20 goals and registering nine assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

David has 12 goals and three assists in 20 Ligue 1 outings this term, while he has eight goals and three assists in 12 Champions League matches during the 2024-25 campaign, including qualification fixtures.

The striker's deal with Lille is due to expire at the end of June, though, and he is set to leave the Ligue 1 club on a free transfer.

Manchester United are in desperate need of a new striker for next season, and the Red Devils are said to be keen on his services, while Arsenal and West Ham United are also thought to be admirers.

Man United, Arsenal, West Ham have all been linked with David

David has confirmed that he will be "free at the end of the season", but the Canadian refused to reveal which clubs were in the running for his signature.

"Yes, I will be free at the end of the season. And as for my future, I hope to grow, to become a better player, and to play for the biggest clubs in the world, if I can," David told Onze Mondial.

"But first of all, I just want to have fun, never forget that football is fun. I started playing football because I had fun. And even though it has now become my job, you have to remember that I wake up every morning for football, for the pleasure of playing.

"Do you want any clues about my future? You will all know, in due time, that is at the end of the season. I will not comment before then.

"First of all, I want to finish this season well, the end looks exciting and I want to play well and help the team. And when the season is over, the decision will be made and announced."

Are Barcelona still keen on David?

Barcelona have also been heavily linked with David, but it is understood that the Catalan outfit have cooled their interest in the striker.

Hansi Flick's side are expected to move for a new centre-forward either this summer or next, as Robert Lewandowski is entering the latter stages of his career, but Newcastle United's Alexander Isak and Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres are thought to be their leading targets in the final third of the field.

David will not be short of offers, though, considering that he has scored 104 goals and registered 27 assists in 218 appearances for Lille in all competitions, including nine goals and one assist in 16 Champions League matches.

The Premier League appears to be his likeliest destination this summer, and a move to Man United would make a lot of sense considering the club's financial problems and their need to boost their attacking unit.
