Manchester United have reportedly told Inter Milan that a debt in relation to Romelu Lukaku could be cleared if they have the chance to sign either Lautaro Martinez or Milan Skriniar.
Lukaku joined Inter from Man United in 2019, but the Italian giants are paying off the fee in instalments as they could not afford to spend €80m (£69m) in one transaction.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A outfit have missed a payment as they are struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has put them in €50m (£43m) worth of debt to the 20-time English champions.
The report claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have discussed the possibility of signing either Martinez or Skriniar in order to settle the debt.
Skriniar has been linked with a move away from San Siro over the last 12 months, with the 26-year-old centre-back previously linked with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Martinez, meanwhile, has been strongly linked with Barcelona, but the Argentina international recently said that he was on the verge of signing a new contract with the Italian giants.
