Manchester United could reportedly let Dean Henderson leave on loan for Newcastle United before Monday's deadline.
The 24-year-old continues to play second fiddle to David de Gea in between the sticks at Old Trafford and is supposedly hopeful of an exit at some point in 2022.
Southampton have been linked with a late swoop for Henderson, but according to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are now in prime position to strike a deal for the England international.
The report claims that there is confidence from both sides that a can deal can be agreed before Monday's deadline, although that would rule out the Magpies' prospects of securing Jesse Lingard's signature.
Ralf Rangnick was supposedly keen to keep Henderson on the books with the Red Devils still competing in the Champions League, but the interim coach has now accepted that the former Sheffield United loanee needs regular game time.
Henderson has only made one Champions League and one EFL Cup appearance for Man United this term and boasts a total of 13 clean sheets in 28 games for the club in all tournaments.
