Manchester United are reportedly willing to let under-performing attacker Antony leave on loan this summer if his temporary club pays his wages in full.

Manchester United are supposedly prepared to let under-performing attacker Antony leave on loan this summer, but only under one condition.

The 24-year-old has failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford since joining in an £85m deal from Ajax in 2022, having risen to prominence under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

Antony has just 11 goals and five assists to show from 82 games in a Red Devils jersey and has often been the subject of ridicule, failing to back up some nifty footwork with an end product in the final third.

The Brazil international came up with a paltry three goals and two assists in 38 games last season and is still under investigation for allegations that he was violent towards a former partner, which he denies.

Antony was an unused substitute in Man United's 2-1 upset of Manchester City in the FA Cup final, where Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were preferred out wide, while Amad Diallo also made an impression last season.

Man United 'demand' Antony salary be covered in full

While Antony still has three years left on his Man United deal with the option of a further 12 months, the South American's consistent struggles have begged whether he could be allowed to leave in the coming weeks.

A permanent exit is believed to be off the cards, though, as Mason Greenwood has been transferred to Marseille, while Jadon Sancho is also expected to depart despite setting aside his differences with Ten Hag.

However, ESPN reports that Man United are happy to let Antony leave on loan in the summer transfer window, but only if an interested club is prepared to cover his £70,000 weekly wages in full.

The Red Devils are not thought to have received any concrete offers for the attacker just yet, and they may struggle to find a suitor willing to fork out his hefty salary.

Antony missed out on Brazil's Copa America squad on account of his struggles at Old Trafford, and he was not involved in Man United's recent 1-0 friendly loss to Rosenborg either.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS regime have already made their mark in the transfer market, assisting in the captures of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, while discussions are also ongoing with Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt.

A handful of arrivals will be complemented by a plethora of outgoings, though, and the Red Devils have already waved goodbye to Greenwood, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Willy Kambwala, Brandon Williams, Donny van de Beek, Shola Shoretire, Omari Forson and Alvaro Fernandez.

Bids are expected to be entertained for a host of other players, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Sancho, Hannibal Mejbri and Facundo Pellistri, the latter three of whom spent at least one half of 2023-24 on loan elsewhere.

Should a deal for De Ligt be concluded, Man United could also be receptive to offers for Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, both of whom are out of contract in 2025.
