Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Bayern Munich over the potential signing of Mathys Tel in the summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old joined the Bundesliga champions from French outfit Rennes in the summer of 2022 for a fee in the region of £25m, leaving his homeland for a spot in Bavaria.
Tel has struggled to nail down a regular spot in the Bayern XI, though, starting just seven matches in over 18 months under contract at the German giants.
The attacker has provided a respectable tally of three goals and two assists in 17 Bundesliga matches so far in 2023-24, despite not being handed a start by Thomas Tuchel.
According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have made contact with Bayern Munich over the possibility of bringing Tel to Old Trafford during the summer.

The report claims that the Red Devils and the Bavarians are in talks over a potential transfer for the France Under-21 international ahead of the 2024-25 term.
It is understood that Erik ten Hag's men are very keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the next campaign, and Tel is high on a list of targets.
Despite the Frenchman wishing to stay and become a legend at the Allianz Arena in years to come, it is believed that he is willing to depart if he cannot break fully into the first-team fold as a regular.
A loan away from the German champions has been suggested, however it is said that Tel would only want a permanent move away from Munich should he change clubs in the future.

With the ability to operate on the flanks or as a central striker, the 18-year-old is currently behind the likes of Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane and Harry Kane in the pecking order.
It is also understood that two other teams in the Premier League are huge admirers of Tel, however the identity of those clubs are currently unknown.
The Red Devils look set to spend big in attack for back-to-back summers, having recruited Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta BC for £64m in August 2023.
Hojlund's maiden goal in the Premier League took until Boxing Day to arrive, although the youngster has not looked back since, providing seven goal contributions in his last five appearances across all competitions.
