Manchester United reportedly make an enquiry for Brentford defender Rico Henry as they look to sign a left-back before Friday's transfer deadline.

Manchester United have reportedly enquired about the availability of Brentford full-back Rico Henry.

Erik ten Hag has strengthened his squad this summer with the additions of Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund.

The Man United boss could still make at least one more signing before Friday's deadline, with the Red Devils looking to recruit a new left-back following an injury to Luke Shaw.

The England international is expected to miss a number of months with a muscle injury, while his deputy Tyrell Malacia has been sidelined for the opening weeks of the season.

As a result, Diogo Dalot filled at left-back for Saturday's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, highlighting Man United's lack of options in that area of the pitch.

The Red Devils have been scouring the transfer market for possible solutions, leading to speculation over a possible loan deal for Chelsea's Marc Cucurella.

Tottenham Hotspur's Sergio Reguilon and Barcelona's Marcos Alonso have also been identified as potential options for the 20-time English champions.

According to the Daily Mail, Henry is another name under consideration after Man United made an enquiry about the player's situation and availability.

Henry, who joined Brentford from Walsall in 2016, helped the Bees achieve a ninth-placed finish last term after starting 37 Premier League matches.

The 26-year-old has played every minute of Brentford's opening three games of the new season and is regarded as a key part of Thomas Frank's side.

Having impressed for his club side, Henry is in contention for his first England call-up, with Gareth Southgate set to name his squad this week.

While it remains to be seen whether Man United decide to step up their pursuit, the Bees will be reluctant to sanction a sale in the final days of the transfer window.

Henry also has three years left to run on his contract, meaning that Brentford are also in a strong position when it comes to negotiations.
