Manchester United have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Napoli forward Dries Mertens.
Needing to replace at least one of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to add a new frontman to his squad during the January window.
However, Tuttomercatoweb claims that thought is already being given towards the next campaign with Mertens said to be on United's radar.
With his contract due to expire at the end of the season, the Belgium international is free to talk to foreign clubs at the beginning of 2020.
The report suggests that United have already held informal discussions with his representatives ahead of an offer being made in January.
During his six-and-a-half years in Naples, the 32-year-old has scored 116 goals from 293 appearances in all competitions.
