Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar, as the defender looks likely to sign a new contract at San Siro.
The Slovakian international has been a key part of Inter's rebuild since signing from Sampdoria in 2017, making 233 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
Inter's vice president Javier Zanetti has declared that he is confident that the 27-year-old will sign a new deal at the club.
"We are in talks to extend the contract as conversations are progressing well. We hope to get it done and signed soon," Zanetti told Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw.
The 2020-21 Serie A champions currently find themselves seventh in the league, 11 points behind leaders Napoli.
Last season's runners-up will look to move into the top four with victory at home to Bologna on Wednesday, provided that Atalanta, Juventus and Roma all fail to win.
