Manchester United have supposedly sounded out the agent of Bruno Fernandes over Sporting Lisbon starlet Nuno Mendes.
The 18-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular for Sporting during the 2020-21 campaign, banking one goal and one assist from 29 league appearances to help his side to the Primeira Liga crown.
Mendes is understandably being scouted by top European clubs following his breakthrough season, with Manchester City thought to be weighing up a £52m move for the highly-rated teenager.
Now, The Sun claims that Man United have entered the race for Mendes's signature, and they have contacted his agent Miguel Pinho - who is also Fernandes's representative - to see if a deal would be feasible.
The report also adds that Man City are not actively planning to make a move for the teenager, but it would still take a bid in excess of £50m to prise Mendes away from Sporting.
The left-back - who is also capable of playing further up the pitch - extended his deal with Sporting until the summer of 2025 last year.
