Manchester United 'still in for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil'

Manchester United are reportedly still interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, who has less than six months remaining on his contract.

Manchester United have retained an interest in signing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Earlier this week, United completed the signing of Alexis Sanchez who, like Ozil, had just six months remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

United will not follow up any interest in Ozil during the January transfer window but according to The Independent, Jose Mourinho remains keen on the German international.

The report suggests that United are prepared to bide their time until the summer, despite Arsenal having the opportunity to agree fresh terms with the playmaker in the coming months.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has acknowledged that negotiations are currently ongoing, while it has previously been claimed that the Gunners are confident of extending Ozil's stay at the club.

Despite speculation over his future, Ozil has still contributed four goals and six assists in 19 Premier League outings this season.
