Manchester United are reportedly unable to bring an early end to Alexis Sanchez's Inter Milan loan spell after failing to insert a recall clause in his contract.
The Red Devils are short of options in attack after losing top scorer Marcus Rashford to a back injury that could see him out of action until April.
The likes of Edinson Cavani, Moussa Dembele and Rodrigo have been linked with United, and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be forced to go down the route of bringing in a new attacker due to the terms of Sanchez's contract.
According to The Telegraph, the Chile international will not be returning to Old Trafford this month and will instead remain on Inter's books until the summer.
Sanchez was loaned to the Nerazzurri in August and recently returned from a three-month layoff with ankle ligament damage.
The only recognised strikers currently on United's books are Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial.
