Manchester United are reportedly yet to make an official bid for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane.
The Red Devils are believed to have identified the France international as their leading centre-back target during this summer's transfer window.
Los Blancos are reluctant to lose both Sergio Ramos and Varane in the same summer, but the World Cup winner's contract at the Bernabeu is due to expire next June, and it is thought that he is keen to seek pastures new ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man United have approached Real Madrid to register their interest in the former Lens youngster.
However, Romano claims that the 20-time English champions are yet to make an official bid, as they are waiting to learn the Spanish outfit's asking price.
Varane has spent the last 10 years with Real Madrid, making 360 appearances in all competitions, winning three La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns in the process.
Man United have also been linked with Lyon's Joachim Andersen, Barcelona's Samuel Umtiti and Villarreal's Pau Torres, as the club look to bring a new centre-back to Old Trafford this summer.
