Manchester United defender Alex Telles is reportedly ready to sign for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.

Manchester United defender Alex Telles is reportedly ready to sign for Al-Nassr on a permanent basis.

When the left-back departed Porto for Old Trafford in 2020, it was deemed that United had pulled off a coup in sealing a deal for just £13.6m.

However, the Brazil international has failed to replicate his previous form while contracted to the Premier League giants, making a total of 43 starts and seven substitute outings in all competitions.

Although Telles contributed one goal and eight assists, with his general performances led to Luke Shaw ultimately winning their battle for a regular starting spot, Telles instead moving on loan to Sevilla.

While the 30-year-old found himself in an out of the Spanish side, he played a key role in their Europa League triumph, featuring for 95 minutes during the final against Roma.

With a year left on his contract, Telles has been back at his parent club waiting for a decision on his future to be made at a time when he has not been short of admirers.

Flamengo had been credited with an interest in handing Telles a chance to return to his homeland, while Telles publicly rejected claims that he may hold a desire to go back to Portugal to represent Benfica, Porto's fierce rivals.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it is Al-Nassr who will win the race for Telles's signature with negotiations having been held between the relevant parties.

A 'verbal agreement' is said to have been reached with the two clubs on board with getting a transfer concluded as soon as possible.

Despite a transfer fee not being mentioned by Romano, United will generate much-needed funds at a time when they want to stay in line with FFP and provide Erik ten Hag with further chances to bolster his squad.

The Red Devils will not look to sign a new left-back, a result of Tyrell Malacia already acting as competition for Shaw and other players able to fill a void if and when necessary.

Jonny Evans, a former United defender, has penned a short-term deal in order to participate in the club's upcoming friendlies, but United remain very much in the hunt for a new centre-back.

As a result of Harry Maguire being stripped of the club's captaincy, United are eager for the England international to find a new club, something which is not a certainty due to his big wages.
