Manchester United have reportedly been considering a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard ahead of next summer's transfer window.
The Norwegian moved to the Bernabeu as a 15-year-old in 2015 for a fee of £2.6m and has had loan spells with Eredivisie sides Heerenveen and Vitesse.
The player's performances this season for Real Sociedad, who are one point off the top in La Liga, have been highly impressive, prompting reports suggesting that Los Blancos were even considering recalling him early from his two-year loan.
According to a report in Spain, however, Odegaard does not want a return to Madrid, which has encouraged United to consider making a bid next summer.
The Red Devils have previously been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer determined to add young players to his squad.
Speaking in an interview earlier this season, Odegaard insisted that his aim was to return to Zinedine Zidane's side in order to stake a place for a spot in the starting XI.
